"In a music world of ‘junk food’ pop (quickly produced, poor quality and easily forgotten) I want to support alternative tracks I believe do deserve to be listened to"
The five members of Affairs all met at Hull University and in their words were “drawn together by their mutual appreciation of great music, art, slick hair, tight jeans and loose hips”. ‘Play‘ is the follow-up to the much acclaimed ‘Brothers’ released in September last year.
Affairs have a brooding intensity that is difficult to ignore and a power that’s quite often exhilarating. Driven by the sublime and unique baritone vocals of James Robinson ‘Play‘ is an intoxicating mixture of ethereal guitar riffs and atmospheric, swirling synth rhythms. Crucially, however, it’s also high on melody, delivering a chorus that’s also easy to get behind.
