"In a music world of ‘junk food’ pop (quickly produced, poor quality and easily forgotten) I want to support alternative tracks I believe do deserve to be listened to"
‘Devil In My Eyes‘ is the debut release from London based four-piece Goodbye Brighton. Formed in 2014 when song writing duo Mia Linnett and Dustin Price came together with bassist Jake Barnett and drummer Joe Perkins, the band have recently been performing live to rave reviews.
‘Devil In My Eyes‘ is a soulful, mid-tempo piece of sonic art, aiming to seduce your ears and thoughts. Clearly knowing how to deliver a telling melody, the relentless heartbeat of the band’s acoustic guitar licks drive an emotional verse to a crescendo. The back-beat is prominent enough to be noticeable, but beautifully and subtly realised, so as not to drown out the focal point, Mia Linnett’s swoonsome vocals. Building momentum, the chorus sweeps you along , refusing to let the uncertainty and soul-searching in the lyrics to become too melancholy and the track hits some soaring highs late on as Linnett’s vocals help it to soar, and give it that ethereal edge. ‘Devil In My Eyes’ is a really beautiful listen and finds a lead singer in scintillating form.
